Find the right starting point

The decision, at a glance
  1. Story

Plan shots and the visual narrative.

  2. Animation

    Match drawing and rigging requirements.

  3. Delivery

    Confirm output and production needs.

Two products for different stages of animation

Storyboard Pro is used for pre-production; Harmony is used for 2D animation. Start by identifying who develops the story and who produces the animated scenes. A studio can need both products without needing both on every workstation. List the roles, software already in use and handoff requirements before deciding the quantities.

Compare Harmony Essentials, Advanced and Premium

Harmony has three editions. Essentials is the entry option; Advanced expands the toolset; Premium is the edition to investigate for more complex rigging and compositing requirements. Treat this as an initial shortlist, not a substitute for the current feature matrix. Write down the specific production features you require and check each against the proposed edition.

Evaluate with a representative production scene

Choose a scene that includes the drawing approach, character complexity, effects and output your team actually uses. Ask the artists responsible for those tasks to review the result. A basic demonstration may look successful while missing a requirement that matters later in production. Keep the findings with the purchasing brief so the quote follows the tested requirements.

Licensing enquiries in Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Qatar

Our Toon Boom focus is these three Gulf markets. Include the studio or institution, deployment country, artist count, required products and project dates. For education, identify the teaching context separately from commercial production. The proposal should state the edition, quantity, term and applicable conditions; do not assume that a trial or a different regional price establishes those terms.

Example: separate story and animation roles

Consider a hypothetical studio with three storyboard artists and eight animators. Begin with separate Storyboard Pro and Harmony requirements, then identify any artists who genuinely work across both stages. This makes the request easier to review than buying an identical bundle for eleven people. Confirm product and edition coverage for the actual workflow before purchase.

Industry use cases

The following illustrative scenarios connect documented product features to practical work. They are not Orbislum customer results. Confirm the selected plan and your deployment requirements.

Animation studios: test a reusable character rig

A studio is preparing a sequence in which the same character appears in several shots. Harmony rigging can organize the character for cut-out animation, allowing the artists to test poses and movement before expanding the shot list. The team checks the required rigging capabilities against the selected Harmony edition. Reuse is a production choice to evaluate, not a promise that every drawing or action will work without adjustment.

Animation education: review timing before full production

A class develops a short story in Storyboard Pro, then builds an animatic to discuss shot order, pacing and camera movement. Students can revise the sequence before spending time on finished animation. The instructor assesses how the visual decisions support the story, rather than only judging polished drawings. Confirm access for the class and the planned handoff to Harmony separately.

Your questions, answered.

Does every animator need Harmony Premium?

The edition should follow the required features. Check the current comparison and a representative scene; neither team size nor job title alone determines the right edition.

Can I request Harmony and Storyboard Pro together?

Yes. Give separate quantities and roles for each product so the proposal can show the scope clearly.

Do you supply a ready-made production pipeline?

This page covers software licensing enquiries. Any training, pipeline implementation or other services would need to be agreed explicitly; they are not automatically included.
