A purchasing shortlist, not a complete feature or contract comparison. Confirm the current product documentation and written offer.
Individual and group needs differ
Separate one researcher’s access from a lab or departmental requirement. Name the administrator and count intended users. Include visiting researchers and students explicitly so eligibility and access conditions can be checked before placing an order.
Academic pricing has conditions
GraphPad’s published buying guidance sets requirements for institution type and academic research use. Describe both rather than assuming a university email address guarantees a particular offer. Mixed academic and commercial activity should be identified for review.
Plan shared devices and identity
Record operating systems and whether devices belong to individuals or are shared. If SSO, SCIM or machine-based activation is required, request the appropriate institutional option and verify its entitlement. Do not treat named-user and shared-device rights as interchangeable.
Prepare for the next funding period
Align the requested term with the project or funding window. Keep the administrator, approved user scope and renewal date together. Confirm additions, reassignment and renewal conditions in the actual offer rather than extrapolating from an old departmental purchase.
Current Prism plans and renewal
Prism now distinguishes Standard, Pro, Organization and Enterprise, with named-user activation for new plans. A group subscription is not a floating license. Check any legacy serial-number subscription before renewal. Put shared-device, SSO, SCIM and virtual-desktop requirements in the brief so the appropriate entitlement can be confirmed.
Prepare the purchase with your university procurement team
Name the purchasing institution, laboratory and billing contact. Include any purchase-order reference requirements and the date access is needed. If a grant pays for the subscription, ask procurement to confirm the permissible term and renewal process before requesting the offer. Do not send research data, participant information or account passwords with the enquiry.
