Three controls, three questions
Identity establishes who signs in. Connection policy determines the allowed access. Audit records support review of activity. Treat these as separate requirements and assign each to an internal reviewer. One successful remote session does not demonstrate that all three controls work as intended.
Design the access rule before enabling it
For Conditional Access, record source users or groups, destination devices, allowed functions and any time restrictions. Confirm entitlement in the proposed package. Test a deliberately excluded path as well as the normal support path, and preserve an approved recovery process during evaluation.
Review the evidence requirement
Agree the events to collect, who may view them and how exported records would be handled. A product event log is not automatically a complete recording of everything a technician saw. Ask the security team to identify the precise evidence required for its process.
Evaluate an operator leaving the team
Use a test account to check what happens after access is removed through the chosen identity and administration process. Confirm both sign-in and endpoint access behavior. Document the result and responsible owner before planning wider deployment.
